Mimi et Toi | Jewellery

This is a nice story! About six months ago I met Mirjam {Mimi} in the fitting-room at the Rika shop in Amsterdam. People who know this shop also know that this is by far the smallest shop in the nine streets. Not very handy, especially when they have sale... So it happens that Mimi and I had to share the one and only fitting-room and started to talk about her jewellery and my fashion blog. To cut a long story short, I found out that Mimi is an amazing jewellery designer and that she has launched this amazing webshop Mimi et Toi. Have a look and see for yourself!

Sweatshirt | Piece to have

Lucky for me, a lot of designers embraced the mélange sweatshirt. So yes, I think that for spring 2011 this is a piece to have, if you didn't have one already... You can go for a very nice (and expensive) one like Isabel Marant, but don't underestimate the ones from H&M or Zara!

Inspiration | Current/Elliott

As I cheated on my favorite brand Acne this week (I bought a Current/Elliott corduroy pants...) I might as well show you some inspiration from the Current/Elliott Holiday Resort 2011 lookbook. This LA jeans label just started of in july 2008 and raised the bar for the denim standard already! The brand has got a wide range of styles, from skinny to loose baggy and everything in between. At the moment I'm really into skinny's, so I would go for this one above! And what an amazing denim shirt she's wearing...

Review 2010

The year 2010 has almost finished and so it's time for a little review. It has been a great fashion year for me, especially bloggerwise...More and more readers discovered my blog, I've started my own company Media Trends, visited two shows at the Amsterdam International Fashion Week, went to Paris Fashion Week twice (to shoot streetstyle pics), been to the Modefabriek Amsterdam, had one of my streetstyle photos featured in the Dutch Elle and I started blogging for the Dutch fashion website In de Mode. And then I'm not even talking about how twitter changed my life...my fashion life that is!

So, you'll all understand that I will try to maintain this positive flow of course! Starting of in january with an interview ànd photo in the Dutch fashion magazine Red (february 2011 issue) 'For the best things in life'! Thank you all for following and supporting me this year and of course I hope you will continue to do so in 2011!

Just so you know, these Isabel Marant pants from the Spring 2011 collection will be probably one of my first new fashion buys in 2011, maybe even in the colour pink...! Photo from all the pretty birds.

Pietrasanta | Italy

Yes, I know it's very cold outside! So all the more reason to think of warmer places... Today I received an email with season greetings from 'my' Italian jeweller Marco Balderi, how nice! He's an amazing artist and creates the most beautiful jewellery. His Buone Feste wishes came with this wonderful photo of Pietrasanta - a small town near the Tuscan coast - where he lives. I love Pietrasanta and fortunately I'm going to visit it again next summer! Fino ad allora!

Inspiration | Sofia Coppola

Sofia Coppola, actress, film maker, film director and daughter of famous film director Francis Ford Coppola featured in Vogue UK january 2011.

'I have to do something creative, otherwise life's not fulfilling!' she said in an interview in that same Vogue. Love that quote!

Breaking news!

Breaking news on Twitter today: Carine Roitfeld is leaving French Vogue!
Her departure will be effective in several weeks and she hopes to persue personal projects. She has been with the magazine for 10 years! She is an incredible chief-editor and an amazing stylist as well! Roitfelds replacement has not yet been named.

Just some inspiration for Spring jeans....I think I'm gonna try on that skinny patchwork jeans next time I'll be in Amsterdam...! Photos from Closed

Collecting mania

Last week I had an interview for a Dutch fashion magazine and of course it all had to do with jeans! I can't tell you much about it but it's going to be an article about collecting mania's.... So today is the photoshoot for this magazine and I thought I just show you a few of my jeans jackets! Keep you posted!

5 perfect pants

You have your favorite jeans and some of us even have a few favorite jeans...like me! Anyway, when it comes to trousers I'll bet your collection is far from complete. So check out these Céline pants! Designer Phoebe Philo has taken this denim philosophy to trousers and came up with these marvelous all-you-can-wear styles. The 5 perfect pants are available all year around. Very smart!

Basic Tee

I have got a lot of T-Shirts in my closet and this one is my favorite at the moment. You can't have enough basic Tees, because they always look good underneath that fitted jacket or black cardigan. This one is the Copy Classic T-Shirt from Acne and the fit is just perfect. The blue colour looks amazing with black! So I wear it with my fitted black Filippa K jacket and my vintage black Acne jeans...of course!

30 November 2010

Now this is a new way of wearing those fashionable sweaters from Marant or Alexander Wang! Just wear a shirt with a collar underneath and create a whole new look for next spring! Photo and sweater from H&M.

Looking for a party outfit?

Love this Zara party look especially the leather jacket!

26 November 2010

Big sweater...long legs!

These streetstyle pics really show how to get away with the big sweater trend! I know, it's too cold in our country at the moment to wear those beautiful big sweaters with just a pair of boots and a bag, but hey, sometimes we just have to be tough to be fashionable! Photos from StockholmStreetstyle.

Cuffed skinny jeans

For me designer Isabel Marant is a genius! In her collection for this fall she came up with those adorable rolled up skinny jeans. Yes, I do think that this is a piece that every fashionista needs to own, maybe not this winter but definitely next spring. So get inspired by Géraldine Saglio, fashion editor for French Vogue and think about these skinny, cuffed and figure flattering jeans!

H&M Spring 2011

Clearly camel and red are not only the new black for this fall and winter. No, these colours keep hanging in there next spring as well. H&M's Spring 2011 collection is mostly based on a camel-red-grey colourpalette. Floral and animal prints are definitely being carried over to the next season and when it comes to silhouettes think of Mad Men and 60's inspired skirts and blouses. Personally I really like this cotton knitted sweater and Chloé-inspired short boot, beautiful! The new collection will hit the stores in January already!

Nicole Phelps

Nicole Phelps, on the left, is the executive editor of Style.com, the online home of Vogue magazine. She is a popular expert on fashion trends. She has got a fashionable style but always with a very personal twist! I like! Photo taken outside the V&R SS 2011 show at Tuileries gardens.

10 November 2010

What an amazing sweater this is! Reminds me a bit of those hand knitted sweaters we used to wear when I was younger (long time ago..) My friends mother Betty was really good in knitting fashionable cotton sweaters and I always was so jealous of her, especially of that one with the colour fields. Remember that one, Helen? Fortunately I could borrow this sweater now and then! Photo from Elin Kling. Go to TopShop for more knitted inspiration!

5 November 2010

The lovely Elena Perminova is a 22-year old model from Siberia and is only modelling occasionally. To be honest, I didn't know who she was when I took this photo of her, but now I know that she's married to a Russian billionaire, that she gave birth to a baby last year and last but not least she was a playmate for the Russian Playboy as well. What a résumé for a 22-year old.... Photo taken outside the Dior show at PFW.

Lanvin for H&M

Today the Lanvin for H&M collabarotion collection campaign movie came out! In this wonderful promotional video starring Natasha Poly we see a surreal hotel dreamscape and room by room the collection is passing by. What an amazing idea directed by Mike Figgis. Also starring, in no particular order, Lanvin designer Alber Elbaz, famous models Irina Lazareanu and Hannelore Knuts. So, is this going to be an oh-my-God-I-have-to-get-this collection? Well, we all know on the 23th November..! Photo from Stockholm StreetStyle.

1 November 2010

Not my best picture because of the stupid rain, but still, Rinke of the Dutch Grazia looks very nice and actually she is very nice as well. We had a little chat in the train to Paris that morning, talked about Twitter and a few other things. Anyway, I'm still a bit jealous of her....she can go to all the shows whereas I can't! ;-) Photo taken after the Dior show at Tuileries gardens during Paris Fashion Week.

30 October 2010

This girl was actually posing for streetstyle photographer Tamu McPherson from All the pretty birds before the V&R show at Tuileries gardens. Tamu takes beautiful pics and she has a special way of approaching someone trying to make the most out of a streetstyle photo. I really admire Tamu's work and it was nice meeting her in real life (although it was only a quick chat of 1 minute...) The girl on this pic is wearing the Acne Admire wedge boots, not really my taste but they looked beautiful on her!

Love this T-Shirt!

Love these pants!

Frida & Caroline

I love this picture, it is one of my best shots after the V&R show at Tuileries gardens during Paris Fashion Week. Caroline Blomst from Stockholm StreetStyle is posing cheek to cheek with Swedish model Frida Gustavsson in front of the camera of Daniel Troyse, Caroline's blogpartner.

26 October 2010

Red pants

Today I wrote a blog on the Dutch Retail & Fashion site In de Mode about Red Pants. We saw red leather pants on a few catwalks back in february already. Isabel Marant, Balmain and Valentino had the courage to come up with this striking fashion trend and I must say...it's not bad. As always and especially with the colour red, the styling with other colours is risky. But Swedish fashion editor and blogger Elin Kling goes all the way with her red pants and combines hers with camel, black ánd blue! I like her style and I think she looks wonderful!

25 October 2010

Fred N

Let me introduce you to Fred N, blogger for the Dutch The Digitalistas and working as a hairstylist and make-up artist as well. I met Fred outside the V&R show at Tuileries gardens and he had a very funny way in approaching everybody he wanted to take a picture from. Everytime he took a photo he smiled and said (shouted actually...) 'Amsterdam loves you!' and then everybody was really enchanted. Even Anna dello Russo couldn't resist Fred and gave him a big smile in return. It was nice meeting you, Fred!

22 October 2010

Anna dello Russo

Well, we all know Anna dello Russo Editor at Large and creative consultant for Vogue Japan. She is a collector of fashion and jewellery and a real passionata fashionista! I was so excited when I saw her outside the V&R show at Tuileries Gardens! She was very nice to everybody and had all the patience in the world for all the photographers out there. She's wearing a dress from Worth Couture, a collection by desginer Giovanni Bedin that is credited with originally launching couture, founded by British couturier Charles Frederick Worth in 1858. Amazing! Her shoes are from Bottega Veneta.

19 October 2010

Paris Fashion Week.....Simona

Meet the new girl, the 15-year-old Serbian beauty Simona Andrejic. She walked a lot of Spring 2011 runway shows and she is a rising star at the moment. Here she left the Dior show at Tuileries gardens and she looked really amazing IRL!

18 October 2010

I know, this is going to be an easy post, but I just HAVE to show you this photo by Jak&Jil, wow, it is just so BEAUTIFUL! Of course, most of you have Tommy Ton's blog in their favorites already, but then again, he can't get enough credit for his wonderful and amazing streetstyle pics! Enjoy!!

16 October 2010

Paris Fashion Week.....Caroline

It's not the first time that lovely Caroline Issa is posing for me and my camera, I photographed her in february as well. She's always so friendly and willing to stand still for a moment. Caroline is publisher and executive fashion director of Tank Magazine, a UK magazine that focuses on lifestyle, art, architecture, literature and fashion. She's also editor in chief of the digital fashion magazine Because. Busy lady!

11 October 2010

Paris Fashion Week.....Vika

Meet the Russian Vika Gazinskaya wearing a lovely double denim outfit. The way she wears her scarve proves her origin for a bit.
She was late for the V&R show, actually she was too late for the V&R show. All of a sudden she realised this, the music was already audible outside (photo 2), she pointed out her finger and she started to run....!

10 October 2010

Paris Fashion Week.....Constance

French Model Constance Jablonski outside the V&R show at Tuileries Gardens. With special thanks to one of my readers.....;-)

Paris.....le Marais

Love this girl's cargo boyfriend shorts and especially her belt with golden coins! Le Marais, on the corner to Place des Vosges.

9 October 2010

Paris Fashion Week.....Haya & Sama

They are possibly the youngest buyers in Paris, the 16-years-old twin sisters Haya & Sama who are always attending lots of shows because their mum Rula Abu Khadra runs The Art of Living fashion store in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Interesting hair!

8 October 2010

Paris Fashion Week.....Bag

Paris Fashion Week.....Bryanboy

Well, I bumped into Filipino fashion blogger Bryanboy outside the V&R show! So many people made him stop to take a pic, however he stayed really calm and he was very friendly to everyone. He's wearing a Kenzo coat, shoes and sunglasses and a Chanel bag as you can see on the picture below.

Bryanboy found himself in the spotlight after Marc Jacobs named a bag after him. He spends his time Fashion Week-hopping around the globe, sitting front row and always wearing the most exclusive designer outfits. Bryanboy is a fashionista!

6 October 2010

Paris Fashion Week.....guess who?

Guess who I bumped into outside the V&R show at Tuileries gardens?
