The Gentleman afterwards, that´s how Christopher Bailey called his Burberry Fall 2012 collection. City-to-country dressing, so it was all about spotty ties, tweed caps, neat blazers, suits and coats. A Burberry boy likes his spot in the country but he likes his link to the city as well. I do like men in nice suits, but what is going on with this shorter jacket? What about this well-known rule that a real gentleman never should wear a short jacket over his blazer or suit? What on earth was Mr. Bailey thinking?

'Laura is hot, Doutzen is not'. Newbie girl Dutch-born Laura is featured in the Balenciaga SS 2012 campaign photographed by Steven Meisel and she was voted as one of the top ten newcomers. This is one of her first major campaigns after walking for Balenciaga in their AW 2011 and SS 2012 catwalkshows. Let's keep an eye on this girl. Oh, and next spring, messy hair required! ;)

This relaxed boyfriend has got an amazing wash. Not available in the Netherlands. Not yet. Fashionminded and I will keep you posted. Of course.

A.P.C. - minimalistic chic

A.P.C. is minimalistic chic. And sometimes slightly boring. But, however, it must be said, they use fine fabrics (especially wool) and the clothing is constructed well. Personally I like their fitted knitwear the best - as the knitted sweater above. I tried one on several times, didn't buy it though, don't know why, but I do like 'their Parisian touch'.

Update: saw this really nice A.P.C. anthracite knitted sweater at Zolamanola (Utrecht) this afternoon and guess what? I bought it! ;)

To tell the truth, it was my friend Desi who - years ago - drawed my attention to the Italian jeanslabel Cycle. She has been living in Italy for many years and and she happens to know the right fashion people over there. So I guess she was one of the first Dutch girls wearing Cycle jeans. Lucky her. The same can be said about Golden Goose, another Italian brand which is becoming quite popular over here at the moment, but again, my friend was wearing it years ago already.... How convenient to have a friend with a real good taste in fashion.

R13 was launched in the fall of 2009 in New York City and their jeans are made from Italian denim. They use a rugged but thin denim with just enough stretch to make their jeans feel very comfortable. How nice. And R13 turns out to be very strong at redesigning classic fits. For example, a baggy fit becomes a slouchy skinny fit and their skinny jeans is very relaxed...love this fit! How tempting. My favourite bracelet at the moment is this leather so called Rainbow bracelet from Antonio Ben Chimol. It's made of genuine Italian leather and it comes with a gold or silver plated magnetic clasp. According to a post on The Sartorialist this jacket is a great DIY...I was bit surprised to read this on Mr. Schuman's blog and in a way he's got a point, but we also have to respect the ideas of a brand new collection and I'm not sure if Phillip Lim will be amused by this remarque. Anyway, Phillip Lim told Style.com that his collection was inspired by his own childhood. 'I'm a child of the nineties', he said. 'Your references are what you grew up with.' I quite like his interpretation of a new nostalgia!

I know, the Fall collections are just hitting the stores, but here a few pics from the Closed Spring 2012 lookbook. As I said in my last post, Italian label Closed is definately one of my favorite brands at the moment (really love their skinny jeans). Apparently their current designteam has designers who have studied at the prestigious St. Martin's College in London and a few even have previous experience working at Prada, Calvin Klein and Jil Sander. Which maybe explains why their collections are so hot lately...

Although I'm not to sure about Céline's white turtleneck, I absolutely like the minimalistic turtleneck sweaters from Zara. Guess that I have to add this one on my winter wishlist.

Et voilà, my new Isabel Marant belt! It's just a black leather belt with a simple buckle but after wearing small and tiny belts for almost 2 years now, the time was right for a new one. As always Marant knows how to give your wardrobe just that simple and understated feel for the denim and downtown looks.

It's great to see classic blouses are making their comeback! Always loved them but the last two years I'm not wearing them at all. So that is definately going to change this coming winter. They're a great way to wear the menswear feel and a light blue one seems to be the right pre-fall investment. Still, I've got a nice black one and even an amazing dark blue blouse in my closet, so let's just start with those two.

Oh, and I did buy an army green Isabel Marant blouse last week, but that one's more oversized with a straight shape, well you know what I mean, it's in that typical cool Marant look!

It was Dutch designer Jan Boelo's first time to show at Amsterdam Fashion Week and it was one to remember. He just finished his study Fashion Design at the Utrecht School of Art and did various traineeships at Paul Schulten's, Jan Taminiau's and Balmain's. He started his own label in 2010 and he's a big Rock 'n Roll fan which definately shows in his Balmain-inspired collection. I like!

Yesterday evening the Amsterdam Fashion Week kicked off with the SIS by Spijkers & Spijkers fashion show. SIS is the second line from designers Truus & Riet Spijkers and for their S/S 2012 collection they were inspired by the twenties and Olympic swimmer Marie (Zus) Braun. And that was visible with the bathing caps and the summer-like play- and bathing suits. I'm surprised that the sisters are into denim as well; next year we can buy a denim jumpsuit, a denim suit or skirt from SIS by Spijkers & Spijkers! Nice work! Photos by Team Peter Stigter.

This week it's Haute Couture Fashion Week in Paris and as usual big names like Chanel, Dior and Armani are featuring their masterpieces work. Also, Dutch designers Jan Taminiau and Iris van Herpen had the honour to show their haute couture collection yesterday and the press was again impressed by both their collections. As usual, it's important who's sitting front row and what's everybody wearing and you would expect the nicest labels and highest heels. But editor in chief of the French Vogue Emmanuelle Alt is not sensitive to those rules at all and wears just what she likes. And that's what I like about her..!

Here's a sneak peak from the Closed women's collection Fall 2011 and besides their great blue jeans they threw in a few darker washes as well. The Italian label Closed is getting more and more 'a label to watch' because of their wearable pieces with that special focus on details and finishes. A real nice denim brand for the laid-back fashionista!

What do we think of the good old espadrilles? Hot or not? When I saw them a few months ago, I wasn't really inspired by this flat canvas shoe. With an interesting introduction in the morning followed by a delicious lunch we hit the road with our cameras. It's the brand's signature and I love it, that typical androgynous look of Acne. And Acne always fits me well (especially their jeans) and I feel good in it, so... For the fall 2011 collection designer Jonny Johansson was inspired by the women who work in his studio, because 'these girls make fashion out of nothing' he said of his team. 'My girls are glamourous but not rich - they are cool'! Unfortunately Acne's clothes are still quite expensive to buy, but I assume his studio girls will get some discount...

Amazing how Belgian designer Dries van Noten interpreted denim in a whole new way! For his SS 2011 collection he'd been looking at the work of Belgian painter Jef Verheyen and it was all about how to capture light. But with the denim items it was more about how to capture the color.... Van Noten dip dyed the jeans in an inspiring way and it looks surprisingly well!

I tried to find out where this TRF stands for but it looks as if nobody cares as long as Zara comes with the hottest trends. Apparently this collection has already become very popular due to its cool items. And I must say, cool it is! It's more about laid-back outfits with the ripped jeans and simple tees. I like!

Coming fall there will be a totally black version again and guess what? I put my name on the selling list already! Love these - as Garance Doré called them - 'push up' sneakers!

At possibly one of the most expensive hotels in the world - the Hotel du Cap in Antibes on the French Riviera - Karl Lagerfeld showed his Chanel 2012 Cruise Collection yesterday. It was all about billion dollar babes. Karl flew in a cast of top models and he accessorized his looks with real jewels, diamonds and pearls. Too much may not be enough, Lagerfeld explained after the show!

To be honest, just since Alexander McQueen died I became really interested in his work and one thing's for sure, he was an amazing designer! So I was thinking lately, wouldn't it be nice to have just one memento..? I noticed this scarf in Paris over a year ago already, McQueen had just died and I remember the sales person told me it was a bestseller at that time...and to be honest since then the scarf is still in my mind. I can't really remember when it was the last time I tied a knot in front of my shirt; nobody wants to look like a cowgirl anymore. Now we did see Eva Longoria wearing one in the series Desperate Housewives now and then, but in a way it didn't really become a trend. Today I came across this streetstyle pic and I don't know why but it striked me and I liked it...a knotted jeans shirt! So let's just get this trend started again!

Well, this must be the first time that we see Carine Roitfeld actually in a pair of jeans!! Probably she is wearing jeans more often than we think but since Mrs Roitfeld looks good in anything it's a shame she never wears them 'in public'. Although the cover looks quite soft, showing Gisele Bundchen in a white Dolce & Gabbana dress, the fashion shoots inside are really cool and not soft at all! I am quite busy with work so there's been a lack in posts lately. Sorry for that! But to soften 'the pain' have a look at my facebook account because nowadays I've been posting nice fashion inspirations there as well. Yesterday, on facebook, I posted a few streetstyle pics including Caroline Blomst from Stockholm Streetstyle and a few friends really 'liked' her photo. Logical, she looks wonderful and I really like her personal style. Her look is basic but in a way very fashionable! Last year I had the chance to take a photo of her myself (photo 2) outside the V&R show in Paris and she was very friendly.

Acne kept it simple for their Fall 2011 show today and presented a collection that was inspired by just a few pieces. Designer Jonny Johansson was inspired by the girls in his design studio: 'These creative girls make a lot of fashion out of a few garments". I love the leather trousers which still have that cool silhouette! The cult of Acne continues!
